Damn man, sorry you have to go through this whole thing with Em. It looks like Mariah has been hit more times than your snare in Drumline. Of course that was all before you and if you accepted that beforehand then my hats off to you. You shouldn't respond to Em but I am disney acting auditions afraid it's a lose/lose situation for you either way.

Mark, Thanks a ton. You guys have created an awesome property and you comments mean a lot. I think it could be argued that some formats are less likely to require a pilot, however I feel buyers will almost always want to see the execution of a dramatic series before committing.

Hey it's Mark - from The Bannen Way. I love your site! For the record we shot the first two episodes, calling them our Pilot episodes and a trailer from those. The pilots were essential to closing the deal. Risk taking is so 80's... I highly recommend the Pilot!

That makes sense. If the video becomes viral to any extent getting traffic to the blog shouldn't be much of a problem and it seems like it has some great potential for that. As far as managing it goes just getting people to comment, having someone respond, and just being yourself is the only thing you really have to worry about. Once the show starts there will be plenty to talk about and plenty for people to comment on. Plus the video blog updates are really more engaging anyway. Like the directors that do vlog updates on movie sites before they come out. People love this kind of stuff. That's just my guess. The blog looks great - it's simple and clean and the real content you want people to focus on is the show anyway. Can't wait to see what you guys do with the show but I would say from a social media marketing perspective I'm getting a good feeling about this.

I just stumbled across this today on Twitter and have to say I love the concept on the surface. It definitely peaked my interest and will be anxious to see what you guys come up with in the pilot. As a social media consultant myself who researches this space on a daily basis this looks like one of the coolest ideas I've seen yet.

Rob, I just thought I would add that our documentary footage as seen on the site has been shot with a consumer grade Canon Vixia HF10, usually hand-held with a Gorilla pod doubling as a hand grip/stabilizer.

It's 16gb of built-in flash capturing in the AVCHD format. Due to the necessity to connect and download, it's been a bit tricky to share the footage, but we've been really happy with the quality. We're only shooting in 30p, 1440x1080 at a lower bitrate for documentary video. But as you can tell from the screen grabs, its still ridiculous quality.

looking for something versatile yet affordable. Want to use it for shooting a pilot and then video blogging, interviews etc.
So I think Panasonic is at the top of the list for consideration right now.
If money was no issue I'd splurge on a RED camera & lens pack, just because!
For better or worse, need to watch my spending though.

I think I'm exhausted just by looking at all the intense work you guys put into this during that weekend! It's too bad I wasn't there for the whole shoot, while they were long hours,you can tell you guys had some fun! Hope the editing process is as exciting ;-)
